But several hooks had rough surfaces and 2 of my husband's ties were snagged--right on the front where it's very obvious. They're destroyed. I'm returning this, of course, but I'm out 2 ties. And this happened the very first time I tried to hang up ties. 46 of 47 people found the following review helpful  Great for belts, September 30, 2008 I bought a couple of these because the belt hangers I had were not strong enough to hold up to the belts that I pile on. With all the wide, fashionable belts out now you need something very sturdy and this fits the bill. You would not believe how many belts I have on this. It is great for scarves and I guess even for ties, but it is great. I also used one for my purses to hang them in the closet; yes it is that strong and my purses are more like suitcases, not the dainty hand clutches, full on hobo bags that hold everything except the kitchen sink. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you?

One drawback is that it extends out close to 4".
